I'm sick and tired of hearing the gun guys who believe themselves to be experts telling me over and over and over how a semi-automatic like an AR 15 or other 'assault style' firearms cannot and do not 'spray fire', when the opposite is clearly true.
All of the videos below are of a standard assault style rifle spray firing, most of them unloading an entire magazine at a time. The Sandy Hook murderer, Adam Lanza, made his expanded capacity magazines work even more efficiently, by taping together loaded large capacity magazines, end to end, so that when the capacity of one was fired, he could flip the magazine quickly to facilitate firing as rapidly as possible.
Steve Sack, whose work I have long admired, gets it perfectly right in his cartoon. I will await the explanations of those who believe themselves to be gun experts on how the videos below - and there are literally hundreds more online, maybe thousands - are not real, that there is only a cosmetic issue at stake, not a functional issue of characteristics that make spray firing possible. I don't believe any explanation from them, longer or shorter than 1,000 words, can exceed the value of these pictures.
Just a little minor nit-picking here - but I distrust the safety standards of people who don't appear to use ear protection or eye protection.

ReplyDelete33 - The “Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device Act” which would ban the manufacture and sale of ammunition magazines that have a capacity of, or could be readily converted to accept, more than 10 rounds of ammunition.
From 1994 to 2004, these high-capacity ammunition magazines were illegal as part of the Federal Assault Weapons Ban, which expired in 2004.
I wish that Minnesota's other Senator would stand-up.
BTW ... the House already has a companion bill, H.R. 138 Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device Act, which lists as co-sponsors Keith Ellison and Betty McCollum.
